Great strides are being made in understanding and treating persons with low back pain, neck pain, headaches, repetitive strain injuries, and other complex pain problems.
Pain and Rehabilitation Medicine brings the latest advances in medicine to patients with complex and persistent pain through our interdisciplinary team approach. Our interdisciplinary program team includes highly experienced and specialized pain management physicians, a nurse practitioner, a clinical social worker, a medical acupuncturist, and a psychologist. Pain and Rehabilitation Medicine integrates the best available evidence-informed medical and physical therapy approaches to best address each patient’s unique pain problem. Rather than just treating your painful areas, we focus on determining the actual cause of your pain.
Pain & Rehabilitation Medicine is a pain management center founded in 1994 by Robert Gerwin, MD, specializing in pain management, headaches and neurological pain, musculoskeletal pain, myofascial pain and fibromyalgia, lymphedema, and electrodiagnostic medicine. Patients referred to Pain & Rehabilitation Medicine will be seen by the clinic’s physicians and nurse practitioner. Select patients may benefit from our interdisciplinary team program.
In 2006, the physical therapy department of Pain & Rehabilitation Medicine split off from the company and became an independent 100% physical therapy-owned practice. Bethesda Physiocare specializes in orthopedic physical therapy, craniomandibular physical therapy, performing arts physical therapy, physical therapy for pelvic pain and dysfunction, and pain management physical therapy. Jan Dommerholt, PT, MPS is president and owner of Bethesda Physiocare.
